I am using Windows XP Home edition and Microsoft Movie Maker.
I just started experimenting with the Movie Maker software. It seems
like
it has potential, but I think I need some help.
I was able to edit different movie clips together into a single movie.
I think it's great that you can start/stop video down to the frame.
When I clicked on the full screen icon at the bottom, the picture was
a lot worse than my original source movie (lower resolution, looks a
lot "blockier").
I would like to transfer some VHS tapes to DVD, but the quality is
unacceptable.
Here are some issues that I would like resolved:
1) Which resolution do I need to save my video to match the quality of
VHS? Also, at that level, how much hard drive space will be needed to
store a 2 hour video?
2) I have some clips that the color balance has shifted to red. Is
there a way to "color correct" the clips in Movie Maker?
3) How do I save a full screen image to a jpg graphic file to edit
with my graphics software?
4) When transfering to DVD or VCD, how do I "break up" the movie into
chapters so the user can fast forward to the next section?
5) Is there a way to hook up a vcr through the computer to a DVD write
drive
so it goes "straight" to the DVD without being recorded to the hard
drive?
It seems like I'll be eating lots of hard drive space for multiple
disks.
