Direct or what?????

Ok i have a computer running a geforce 2mx and when ever
you go into a game it kicks you out into the desktop, and
if you hold alt-tab down and there are no other programs
than it will eventually go into the game and stay there.
Now im wondering why the computer is doing this, when i go
into direct-x dianostics and run the test direct 3d it
will start but nothing shows up and it says that i
canceled the test by pressing a key, but i did not. Well
any ideas im geeting so annoyed at it. Thanx.

I've experienced this in the past and found it was caused by Norton Internet
Security 2003 doing something odd to directx. Once I installed DirectX 9,
the problem went away...
