Help with MPEG file

Hi everyone,

I just purchased a new digital camera, which also records video. I have XP
Pro and didn't have any problem downloading images and video, but I need to
edit the MPEG file because the images are way too dark. Windows Movie Maker
won't open the file. What could I use to edit this?
