View Full Version : WMP9 Screen turns black, bar continues to progress

I'm running an XP machine and having problems with the video.

I can be watching a video clip and anywhere from a second up to a
minute into the clip the screen goes black on me. The bar continues
to progress as if it's playing the file.

Before XP I probably would have uninstalled it and then reinstalled
WMP but I understand that isn't an option.

Could this be a memory problem? This machine ran Windows 98 and all
the video I had fine but perhaps XP takes more memory? For
background, this was a clean install with a new harddrive.

Does anyone have a solution for me? I looked through the Google group
feature and couldn't find an answer.

No tips, no help, no nothing? I can't believe this has only happened
to me?

I have the same problem with my XP program as well. I
have tried everything and have still not found a solution
to the problem.

Well at least I'm not alone. Zero support from Microsoft and a
newsgroup with experts that are baffled doesn't bode well for you or
I. Maybe there's a better video program out there.

Any suggestions on an alternative to WMP9 that doesn't want to work
for me or this other user?
