WMP 8.0 - "Connecting to Media ..."

I am trying to play a Music File using WMP 8.0 from a
remote server. The file downloads but never plays because
it stops at the following message : "Connecting to
Media .."

Interestingly enough, it plays with WMP 9.0. I wanted to
find out why this is not the case with 8.0. I checked the
protocols that it uses, proxy..all the settings are the
same in both the versions.

Do any of you know what the possible problem could be?
