Cannot use system restore. Error message "You must
restart computer and try again". SR is enabled, with max
allocation to drives. Any attempt to change settings
results in same error message. Tried safemode, safemode
w/command prompt to use the %systemroot%... listed in
help. no .ini file found that was listed in help.
no SR actions found in event viewer. Reformatting a
little too much for dealing with this! Any suggestions?

Thanks

Do you have a problem you are trying to overcome by using System
Restore, or are you just concerned that System Restore is not working?

If you are just concerned about System Restore not working then the
best way to fix that is to shut off System Restore completely, reboot
the computer, and then enable System Restore again.

All old restore points will be deleted by this method.

Another thing you might try is to use disk cleanup (Accessories -
System Tools) and in the More Options window you can choose to delete
all but the most recent system restore point.

Good luck
