I tried to upgrade my home pc from XP Home to Professional
(XP Pro) and 3/4 of the way through my pc goes blank to a
blinking cursor. Where I cannot type or Cont/Alt/Dlt or
anything!

I have tried to go back to restore to Windows XP Home, but
the system keeps telling me to insert the XP Pro CD and
the issue starts all over again. Right now I would like
to restore back to my Windows Home to turn off some
software so I can free up a little disc space but I cannot
get back to a restore screen. Actually, I cannot get back
to any screens.

My PC is a 3 to 4 yr old Compaq Presario (I know, I know)
that is 1/2 the problem, I have 256 MB memory, 60 gig hard
drive, and a Celeron 4 (the other 1/2 of the problem). But
I would like to restore it to the orginal date prior to
trying to up grade. Previously, my operating system was
Windows 98 and that is the Restore Disc that came with my
computer..I would rather not go back to this!

WHAT CAN I DO?? ANY ONE??? HELP???
..
