Exactly the same problem, except all is new : Dell
Dimension 8250, Dell Movie Studio Essentials. No sound
after capturing a video via a firewire card. The camcorder
is a SAMSUNG DV70.

No idea for the moment after trying lots of things.

Interested if you have any answer

Thanks

As it turned out, I was not getting sound in the preview pane of MM2 so I
assumed that I was not capturing sound. The sound is actually captured, it
just does not show in the preview pane.

I got around it by just opening the viewer of my camcorder as I capture to
the PC and I can hear it there.

I don't know if this is the same issue with you or not but this works for
me. I still don't know why I can't get sound in the MM2 preview pane but it
does not really matter since I can hear it thru my camcorder as it captures.

Sorry if I am a little weird in my answer to this but I'm new to newsgroups.
I've looked this up as I'm having the same problem as Fred and the person
before him. I get no sound in the preview pane but I'm also not capturing
sound. Ican capture sound and video using the Dazzle hardware and software
(DVC80) that I bought for use with my old PC but the picture quality is
better with MM2. If only I could also capture sound. Phantom, it is
reassuring to know that your problem was not in fact a capture problem after
all but could you also tell us what settings you had set as this may help
me.
