I live in 2 different states and have a computer in each
state. I want to use my XP software to upgrade Windows 95
on the other computer. Can I do this? How?

1) One cannot upgrade from 95 - one must perform a clean installation.

2) The above is irrelevant as you cannot install XP on more than one
system (as it has been with every Windows operating system ever). You will
need to purchase another licence.

The rule is quite clear. It's one copy (or one license) for each
computer.

There's nothing new here. This is exactly the same rule that's
been in effect on *every* version of Windows. The only thing new
with XP is that there's now an enforcement mechanism.

Also note that, even with a second copy of Windows XP, you can
not upgrade from Windows 95. You need at least 98.

You will need a separate license for Windows XP on the Windows 95
machine.

And you should first ensure that the hardware in the Windows 95
machine is fully adequate for running Windows XP. Most Windows 95
machines (e.g. computers sold prior to the middle of 1998) do not have
a fast enough CPU, enough RAM, or enough hard drive space to install
and run Windows XP.

You cannot install the retail upgrade version of Windows XP over top
of the existing installed Windows 95. What you can do is to:

1. Use the Files And Settings Transfer Wizard from Windows XP on the
Windows 95 machine to save the data files and program configuration
settings to another disk drive or partition, a network drive, or a
backup device.
2. Format the Windows 95 hard drive and install Windows XP. The
Windows 95 CDROM will serve as a qualifying product for installing the
retail upgrade version of Windows XP on the empty drive.
3. Install the application programs you want to use.
4. Run the FASTW again to import the saved file into Windows XP.

Good luck
