I am trying to capture the video on my Sony Digital 8
camera. I cannot do so as to XP is indicating no device.
Is there software or a setting I am failing to install or
do?

I have a Sony DCR-TRV730 Digital 8 camcorder connected to my computer via a
Firewire card. I run Windows XP (home and pro) and have not had any
problems. Windows XP recognized the camera without any additional software.
Are you sure that you are connected to the pc properly (via a digital
connection such as firewire)?

I am having the same problem. I have a Sony DCR-TRV320
that was recognized until a week ago. Win XP recognizes
the camera is there but none of the video editing software
(Pinnacle Studio 7, Ulead Video Studio, MovieMaker 2)
recognizes the camera. The common error message is "a
video capture device was not detected".
