My MSDN Universal downloaded (*.iso) copy of Windows XP
when extracted using IsoBuster and burned to a CD is not
bootable. When I insert a purchased version of XP into
the CD-ROM of my test PC it boots fine and begins to
install Windows XP. When I insert the MSDN downloaded
copy of Windows XP nothing happens. I extracted the
(*.iso) into regular files, burned them to the CD, they
all look like the exact same files on my purchased
Windows XP CD. I even modified the PC BIOS to boot from
the CD-ROM first. The purchased version boots just fine,
the MSDN burned version is not bootable. Help??? Arrgh!!!

Roger,
The ISO does produce a bootable image if you use a CD burning tool that can
burn from an ISO e.g. Nero EasyCD etc etc
If you use a product to just open up the ISO and then copy those files to a
CD then it will not be bootable. The ISO image contains more then just the
files, and when burned by an application that understands this, produces a
bootable CD.

Burn the ISO using an app that will enable this. XPs built in software can't
burn ISOs. This freeware app will burn ISO Images
http://w1.878.telia.com/~u87812405/
ISOBuster will extract the contents of the Image but not the boot files.
