I purchased a computer in Korea, and naturally it is in
Korean (menus, toolbars, icons, etc.).

How does one change it to English? Is it possible?

Thanks!

One cannot change the language version of Windows XP.

You must purchase the "Full English Version" of Windows XP,
reformat your drive and install it "clean". The alternative is to
create a dual-boot configuration which requires an available,
empty partition. You can purchase and use Partition Magic 8
(www.powerquest.com) to accomplish this.

If you have a desktop computer, or a notebook computer that
will accept a second hard drive, you can install a second hard
drive and install the "Full English Version" on it and end up
with a dual language boot configuration.

Cannot Upgrade or Install a Different Language Version of Windows XP

This may fit into this thread. For some reason in some of the Windows
Accessories, like WordPad and Paint, the window titles, and the directions,
some, not all, are in oriental characters. The language is set to English in
the control panel. Is there someway to fix this or do I have to do a full
reinstall. Thanks

Err, no, it won't. Please don't post unless you're sure of your facts. As
Nicholas stated the only way to change the language of the GUI is to
purchase the full version in that language and install clean.

It *IS* the same as 98 - you couldn't change the GUI there without
purchasing the full version in your desired language. Had you posted
*BEFORE* Nicholas, I would have been more lenient, but you're contradicting
an MVP - someone whose little toenail knows more about XP than you do.

But someone whom you obviously feel cannot fend for himself, but requires
your assistance in his defense.
