first make sure that windows xp is displaying the file
extensions after the file name. if these files were say
downloaded off kazaa or a program like it they are offered
renamed. so first try going to My computer>>Tools>>Folder
Opitions>>"View Trab"-UnCheck "Hide Known File
Extensitions.
