Apologies if this has been covered before, but I've taken
a look through some old postings and cannot find an
answer.

I am trying to play a region 1 DVD on my pc and get the
following error message.

"Unable to update region setting. Please make sure
the drive contains a region 1 media and you have
administration privilege."

This still happens even though I have a region 1 disc in
the drive and I am the administrator.

I'm using PowerDVD and have no problems when playing
region 2. I still have 4 changes left and can't see why
I'm getting the error.

Can anyone help?

Regards

Jason

Not really a solution to your problem but a workaround:
Use the freeware DVD Decrypter to rip the DVD to your hard drive and watch
it from there. DVD Decrypter removes all the region code restrictions from
the movie: http://www.dvddecrypter.com/ If you rip the movie in ISO mode,
you'll have an exact duplicate of the DVD on your hard drive, and you can
even use DVD Decrypter to burn that ISO to DVD-R as a region-free backup
DVD, as long as it's a single-layer DVD.

Regards,
Ian.
