View Full Version : DVD won't play, disable TV Out?

My DVD player was working a few weeks ago. Since then
I've updated the driver, and installed SimCity (which I
am also having troubles with). I think that the updated
driver is causing my problem. Probably a security update
or an update that conflicts with security. My problem is
that I don't know how to get around it.
When I try running a DVD in PowerDVD XP, it gives me a
message that says "The TV Out port of your display card
is not working properly" -Detailed- This copy protected
disc can not be played when the TV out function is
enabled.
When I try running a DVD in Windows Media Player (same
driver), it says "Windows Media Player cannot play this
DVD because a problem occurred with copyright protection."
I have Windows XP Home, Nvidia Ge-Force3 Ti200 video
driver. Can anyone help?
I had the exact same problem with an nvidia driver. I ended up having to
use the generic windows xp driver and everything works. i lost some
functionality that nvidia provided, but as it was my young daughters
computer, it was not a big issue. To fix your problem, uninstall the nvidia
driver and restart your computer. Accept the generic drivers when windows
finds the new hardware. If your Powerdvd worked fine with the old nvidia
driver, you can also try a system restore to the time just prior to updating
your nvidia driver.
If someone else has a better work-around, I would like to know about it too.
Some have reported using older nvidia drivers may also solve the problem,
but i did not want to take the time to try that route.

Hi Jake
Your using driver version 41.09 or later? If so there are additional
macrovision checks in this driver
and later which can cause you to get errors like this if the TV out unit on
the video card does not fully support macrovision protection.
If this applies to you, try installing an older version of the display
driver or you can disable TV out functionality with Rivatuner.

Hope that helps
