Hi! Thank you for your response...I'm not a real tech
whiz but I'll try to answer the questions you asked! I
have an HP 8760C. My monitor is a Samsung Sync Master
763mb/713mb, 17 inch screen. My computer is a Pentium
III, 732 mhz with 512 mb of RAM. It says something about
an ACPI. I am not sure how to find information on the
video card...is that the same thing as a display
adaptor? If so, it is NVIDIA Vanta/Vanta LT (Microsoft
Corporation). The only thing I could find about a
motherboard was by going to control panel-system
properties-hardware-device manager-system devices-
motherboard resources. When I clicked on that it brought
up a screen that said Device Type: System devices
Manufacturer: Standard System Devices
Location: on VIA Tech PCI to ISA bridge
No drivers installed.

I hope this helps...The pc itself is only about 2 years
old. They installed Windows XP at Best Buy and they
haven't got a clue why it is doing this. They told me I
needed a new monitor, so I bought one and it still
doesn't work. I am not sure what HAL is...if you could
tell me that, I might be able to find out. Also tried MS
support...they tried a bunch of stuff that doesn't work.
Please let me know if you have any suggestions...I really
appreciate your help! PS. Tried to respond via email but
it kept being returned to me...hope you get this.
