What is the command to install XPPro from a command
prompt using a 98 startup disk on a new HD? Keeps saying
this command cannot be run in DOS mode

Installing from DOS will be painfully slow. Is there a reason why you can
not boot off the XP CD and install that way?

Do you have a usb or ps2 keyboard? check your BIOS settings to enable usb
keyboard if it is that type.
