Is there a practical size limit to the 'temp' folder? A
software failure has been attributed to a "full" temp
folder when the C: drive had 60.7 gigabytes of available
space.

Cleaning out the TEMP folder should be part of the routine normal
housekeeping on your computer. It should be done at least once a
month, and only after the computer has been freshly booted up.
The only limit would be the 65,534 limit on the number of directory
entries in a folder. Depending on how many long file names there are
and how long the individual names are (every 13 characters requires an
additional directory entry) the folder could be full with fewer than
20,000 total files.
Good luck
