Hi folks,
I was wondering if someone can tell me in which directory windows xp (home
or pro) stores all of it's system icons. Like, where is the My Computer
Icon stored, and where is the recycle bin icon stored...
Also, when a new program is installed, where are it's icons installed? In
it's program file directory?
Finally what are the file name extensions that icons use?
Thanks a lot!

Most programs don't use separate icons any more. The icons are embedded in
the program's own executable file or in a DLL. SHELL32.DLL is one of the
main repositories for Window's built-in icons.

Yes, there are a number of utilities that will do this for you. Try
www.google.com and search for "extract icons" or a similar search.
