installation of upgrade from ME to XP

I just purchased xp home to upgrade my hp which has me
installed. When I try to run the upgrade option it say it
can't read or wirte to my c drive. I have uninstalled any
virus software I can find.

Seeing that you haven't got XP installed yet, **** off to a winME group.
Better still, forget about installing XP and stay there. There's a good
moron.
