Well, I might think that yes, it does have something to
do with with how you have the camera connected. When you
say serial do you mean IEEE1394 serial? Digital video
cameras usually use a conventional serial RS232
connection to transfer still pictures only (say from a
compact flash or other memory card inserted in the camera
to store still photos). Is this (the RS232) the cable
you are trying to transfer video with? I don't imagine
this will work. As far as I am aware all digital video
cameras have either a USB and/or firewire (IEEE1394)
cable connection.
Make sure you use one of these to transfer video.
