View Full Version : Erasing a DVD +RW

I am using a DVD +RW on WinXP. I want to erase it. When I look in WinXP,
it seems to think it is a CD rather than a DVD. Its size is 683MB rather
than 4.7 gigabytes.
Windows tells me that this CD-RW (not DVD+RW) is re-writable but can not be
erased. What type of program will erase the files. I tried RecordNow and
some other programs. I thought that WinXP could accomplish this becuase
MountRainier was built-in?

MountRaneir is not built into XP. In the meantime you will need software
that supports your drive and DVD writing.

Mount Rainier is not built into XP. You will need third party DVD writing
software compatible with XP and your drive.

DVD capabilities are not part of WinXP. You need to install the Packet
Writing software and the DVD recording software that came with the
computer/DVD drive. You should do a little research and make yourself more
educated about the differences between CD-R/RW and DVD-R/RW, and what packet
writing is.

How come you get Mt Rainier and I only had the west end of Ayres Rock?..
That in itself was not so bad I guess, but for the fact that I live in
Canada, and would have preferred the south side (summer only) of the
Laurentian Range.. lol

No Mt Rainier isnt supported in XP
and never has been.
It maybe in Longhorn the next version
of WIndows.
Some dvd writers and cd writers
support Mt Rainier. BUT XP isnt
an os that will make use of it.
Nero or DirectCD SHOULD be able
to format CDR and CDRW. XP's
built in CD burning, DOESN'T support
packet writing, and doesn't let you
format either.
