I have been experiencing quite a bit of graphic lag and
distortion with my new Radeon 9000 Pro video card. The
lag is not specific to any program; it appears in both
graphic-intensive programs and non-intensive ones. More
specifically, the lag seems to occur along intervals of
somewhat horizontal lines on my screen (I asked about
this in another group and the person referred to this
effect as "tearing"). For example, if I am watching a
movie on my computer and the camera pans quickly or
something changes in the scene abrubtly, this pattern of
distortion occurring along the lines can be seen. Also,
when I do something such as move a window I experience
the same effect of distortion. This effect is also seen
when playing games, where it is much more distracting
than in the previous situations that I described.
In my attempt to fix this problem, I have tried
reinstalling drivers, adjusting just about every setting
in the control panel, and even doing a clean
reinstallation of Windows. Nothing has worked.
My system specs are:
Athlon 1.2
512 MB PC2100
Epox 8KHA Mboard (4x AGP)
Windows XP Pro
Monitor is a ViewSonic A72f
