A disk was formatted using Roxio on a Win2K box. I wrote
some files on a WinXP box (Roxio installed) using
explorer.I was unable to view the files back on the Win2K
box using the cd-rw drive but was able to see them on my
cd-rom drive. Any suggestions on what the problem might
be? Thank you.

The answer's simple - in order for the disc to be read in an ordinary
CD-ROM, it must first be finalised. A disc with open sessions cannot be read
by a CD-ROM.

Wrong.
Almost all modern CD-ROM drives will now read open-session CDs.
Even 8 years ago, depending on the drive's brand, many also could.

If you are using DirectCD, there are some problems with it in some W2K and
WXP setups. I never install it but use the programs directly and find that
to be better. There is less data corruption. Nero has a Wizard to help and
you can do multi-session writes. We have Nero on one computer and Roxio on
another. Frankly, packet writing software needs a lot of work. Some
versions of DirectCd cannot read other versions. The same is true of InCD.
