I have been working with Sonic Foundry's VideoFactory to
make a video of a recent vacation, though I ended up
running out of disk space when I tried to render the
project as a .avi file. However, when I went to delete
the .avi file, which was about 45GB in size, the file has
disappeared, but none of the space that it was taking up
has been freed. When I originally tried to delete it, I
received a pop-up box stating that it was too big to fit
in the recycle bin and that it would be deleted outright.
I confirmed the deletion, and cannot find the file
anywhere on the partition where it was, but like I said
the 45GB is still shown as used instead of free.

Have you ran a chkdsk at startup?
