Hi guys,
Wondering if you can help me with my problem. Everytime I
use the Media Player with a video, I get an error message
on the bottom of the screen that says "Error Downloading
Codec". It only plays the sound, not the picture. I tried
other software but I get the same results.
Please help.

Chris, this isn't very helpful!!! There is no way to know
what something as arcane as "the correct codec" is, nor
why we have to take some initiative to make the Windows
Media player complete. That is the question you should be
answering.

i gave a link to find out the correct codec. that is all the help you need.
would you like me to give you links to the hundards of video/audio codec's
to use with Windows? divx is the most common and you must download it b/c
it's not a standard. it's based on MPEG-4 but it's not MPEG-4. The
question you would be answering now is what would you like me to do when i
have already given the needed info to fix the problem?
the only other real codec problem is with MPEG-2 files or SVCD's. for this
you must buy an DVD decoder and install it
now, Lee, if you have some real advise to give me on howto help people i'll
be gald to take it. but please first read the post and follow the given
links.
