View Full Version : Editing audio in Movie maker?

Hi All,
I'm fairly new to this video thing on the PC, so forgive my
ignorance in some matters, I'm still learning! %!

I am trying to get a copy of a VHS video clip (about 9 minutes worth)
onto my computer to use it in a Powerpoint presentation. However,
although I quite successfully get the Video, my problem is with the
audio. The problem I have is that the audio is delayed by around 3 - 4
seconds, and then gets more delayed as the recording goes on! I've
tried various methods of capture, mostly in Movie Maker and the
program supplied with the TV card, but also other third part software,
all with the same if not worse results (mostly to do with the setup in
the capture menu).

I've tried to trim the audio track in Movie Maker, but that also trims
the video. To do so would certainly sort me out and get this darn vid
into my presentation with a degree of professionalism!

So is their a way of editing the audio track seperately from the video
and vice versa?

Can anyone help or suggest a method, as I did have a full head of hair
on Friday night ;-)

Regards

Paul.

P.S I'm using the "Line In" option for the audio with the PCTV card.

Try using the line in from the soundcard for the audio portion and see if
that helps. (remember to tell it not to mute)

You certainly can edit the audio separately from the video.... but it's even
more of a pain trying to re-sync it afterwards!

Okay I'll give it a go.

I'm doing a lot of experimenting at the moment with just small
segments. If I could snip or trim some audio (silent segments) it may
help bring it back in sync, but all I've been able to do is trim the
video channel as well. I need to find out how to seperate the two
channels for independant editing. It's not an obvious option in Movie
Maker.
