steps to install a network printer in XP

Please review the steps to install a network printer in
XP. I'm trying to add an HP CP1700 printer and don't know
the steps (step by step please) on how to add a printer on
the network. Thanks.

Provided the network is up and running and configured correctly.......

Use the Add Printer Wizard .... browse for a network printer.... select the
printer you want to use....If you do not have XP drivers for this printer,
they can be downloaded from:

ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software1/COL1008/dj-1044-1/cp100en.exe

Expand the exe file to a temporary folder by clicking it. It will initiate
an automatic launch of the setup program which you can cancel.

When you add the network printer, point the installer to the temporary
folder in which you expanded the files.
