Hope this helps: I had trouble with Brother MFC9880 and
this fixed that.
-Go to Ctrl Panel
-System Properties
-Hardware TAB
-Device Manager BUTTON
-CLICK on Ports to collapse
-RIGHT CLICK to Disable Brother product listed there.

This worked on mine. Good luck Linda!
