Hello Bob, I thought I can decompress the qasf file so
easily. But my WinZip cannot, and another thing is the
files in I386 directory (Win XP CD) looks weird instead
of the typical zip looking file. I found a website to
download the file but there is a lot of version of this
file. So I need you help again.

The files on the XP CD are not zipped or cabbed. They use a different form
of compression and that's why they "look weird."

Use the Expand button in Start> Run> MSCONFIG to expand the compressed
file. Screens will appear to walk you through the process.

Or use the expand command in a Command Prompt window. Type expand /? for
examples of the syntax and definitions of the switches that can be used.

Hello again. I tried decompressing the QASF.DL_ from my
win xp install CD, but it always say failed. I used
msconfig and the expand command on the prompt, same
thing. I guess the file is corrupted. Where do you think
I can get it? I tried looking in the msn or microsoft
website, I cannot find it. thank in advance for any leads.

I have been doing that since this morning, but no good
result yet. I found one file but my system said it is a
wrong version. Through my serfing I have identified the
correct version for win xp, but haven't found it yet.

Reinstall the DirectX update. The current version of qasf.exe file is
included in that package.
