Setting up fax option in windows XP Home edition

I don't have a fax machine but I would like to set up the
fax option in my computer. I had XP home edition
installed, got a bug, re-installed it. Also, re-
installed the fax but now it dominates my modem. I can
connect to my internet service provider but I cannot
access the web at all. All the pages say "this page
cannot be displayed" I have to remove the fax just to be
able to see the pages on the web. What am I doing wrong??

Have you tried turning off automatic fax reception?
