I'm trying to load directx onto a new computer running XP-
home. The files download fine, the set-up wizard
completes the installation. The files are located in
their respective directories. However, it fails to ask me
to reboot, (I rebooted manually)and programs will not
recognize directx and tell me I still need to install it.
I have downloaded the same files to another computer
running 98SE and everything ran fine.
The event log tells me I have an error in the Service
Controll Manager.
Any thoughts on where to go from here would be
appreciated.
