cannot get my printer to work

hi hope any one can help.
up to this morning my printer was fine. then a mate tried
his printer on my pc. and now it does not work.
the LEXMARK Z33 wording doesnt even appear anymore on the
left hand side of the "start" menu
Can anyone help please thanks.

1. Ensure the print spooler is started.... at the command prompt type:

net start spooler

2. Do a complete uninstall and reinstall of the printer

There are three separate steps and all three must be complete for XP to
'see' the new drivers.

Disconnect the printer.

Go into the Control Panel, Add/Remove programs and uninstall any printer
software.

Then go to Printers & Faxes and right click and delete your printer.

Reboot the PC. Do NOT reconnect the printer. Go back to Printers & Faxes
in the Control Panel and from the toolbar, select File, Server Properties.

In the drivers tab, delete all the entries for the printer.

Reboot the PC. Do NOT reconnect the printer.

Download a new set of drivers from the printer manufacturer's website

Follow the instructions at the printer manufacturer's website and only
connect the printer when the software tells you to do so.
