I am trying to print to a network printer in a MS-DOS
program. I used the Net USe command to assign either
LPT1 or LPT2 to the network printer. The Net Use command
said that it did assign the network printer to that port,
but it will not print to the port from the application.
I tried to print from DOS using the Print command and
again it would not print. Can anyone help?

Thanks for responding but I tried the information in
Bruce Sanderson's article. It did not fix the problem.
Anyone else with an idea?

Les:
I have been successful on a couple of occasions using the following
approach:
1. Install the required print driver for the network printer so that it is
connected to LPT1. (This is required to make the procedure work)
2. In the printer assigned to LPT 1 activate "Enable Printer Pooling" and
then select the Networked printer as a printer to be used in the pool.
On my application, it will print correctly to LPT1 and Microsoft Windows XP
Professional will accept the entire print job and then redirect it to the
network printer because it assumes that the "phantom printer" attached to
LPT1 is offline.
Hope this helps....

I also have a similar problem with network printer on Windows XP and use a
MS-DOS program. How do you install the required print driver so that it is
connected to LPT1? Can you give step by step instructions on that?
