Lexmark X73 will only copy or scan from an administrators
account. Other user accounts will print but not copy or
scan.

Thinking that antivirus software might have caused the
problem when the printer software was originally loaded,
Lexmark support assisted in reloading printer software
after disabling Norton Antivirus. The next thought was
that since the copy and scan function first copies to
disk, the user account would not have permission for that
to happen; the administrator's account would. However,
we were able to copy another file using the user
account. Lexmark's conclusion was that the problem is
related to Window XP. So here I am!

Hi Dave --

Scanning is an action that is not inherently limited by local user
permissions. The copying functionality of the X73 is handled by the software
driver written by Lexmark to support the X73, rather than internally to the
device or internally to the OS. Because of these two things, I don't believe
this issue is related to Windows XP. As an example, there are other similar
multifunction printers where both scanner and copying functionality works
fine for local user permissions on Windows XP. Unfortunately, if this is a
limitation in the Lexmark's software support for this device, it means
discussing this with them again.

Best regards,
