To Jack & Irene:
I too am experiencing problems with the advanced features
of my deskjet 722C. And, like Irene, HP suggested that I
purchase a new printer! Amethyst, I do believe, must be a
printer salesperson! I have several printers, and the
deskjet is by far the best of the bunch. I do not want
to buy a new printer! Is there a tech out there that
knows of a way to get on older printer with great
features to work properly with XP and perform as it was
designed to? Thanks for your help in resolving this
problem.

No I'm not. I'm just fed up to the back teeth of people whining that XYZ
device doesn't work under XP and then it transpires that the device in
question is actually about 8 years old! Maybe you should do some research
before installing, or purchasing a new system, with XP. The only way you can
have your existing printer work, with its full complement of features, is to
go back to 98. If you don't wish to do that (and, if it's a new system, it's
not advisable as you will invalidate the warranty) then you'll just have to
live with it - it's a fact of life; would you expect a 20 year old
daisywheel to install and run under XP?

There isn't a tech out there - it isn't an issue. Unless HP writes new
drivers then you're stuck. Don't believe me? Maybe you'd like it straight
from the horse's mouth? Though you don't seem to want to believe HP either -
you just want to brand it a marketing stunt.

I suggest you read, and follow the instructions here
http://tinyurl.com/dchk. If you don't want to believe them, and are content
just to whine about it, could you do me a favour and take it elsewhere?

Face it - OS technology moves on. If you can't stand the pace then get out
of the race, sister.

I, too, have a 722c and agree it's a good printer. When it was a new
product, a
friend who worked at HP told me his co-workers considered it the best
buy over more expensive models. Anyway, you can buy a program that
gives you duplex printing and many more options. Go to
www.fineprint.com and download FinePrint (demo) and the manual (.pdf
file). If you like it pay for it. Cheaper than a new printer.

To have this function in XP, you need to do a search for the program
FinePrint. It will restore the abilities that you had under Windows 98.
