Desktop Problems

I'm running XP pro on a ThinkPad. I arrange the icons
manually, but the icons on the desktop rearrange themselves
whenever I start and, often, during a session. I do not
use automatic arrangement or align to grid.

Any suggestions on how to avoid this problem?

It's nothing to do with either printing or faxing, so I suggest

microsoft.public.windowsxp.general
