how do I get a speach recog. tab. Did I not install
something I should have?

XP Pro and Home include a basic text-to-speech program (Narrator) but they
do not include speech recognition.

Some of the Office programs include Speech-to-Text features and they can be
installed on an XP machine. Run the setup using Custom Installation - or -
if already installed, start setup. It will see the existing setup and give
you a maintenance mode screen. Select the option to add/remove Office
components.

XP Pro Tablet PC Edition includes speech recognition and it is installed
automatically. This edition is only available on tablet PCs.

If the person has an MS Office program with speech-to-text features

you ok your friend jeff . Go two add and remove programs go down two
microsoft office xp or words depending on what computer you have ok click
change on the word or xp program ok. under features to install double click
office shared features double click alternative userinput click speech
click the down arrow then click run from my computer click update now when
you open speech it will be there because i put it in my system just two help
you for i would not make a mistake and make sure i told you right ok your
