View Full Version : HP722C ink light

I know that there's a major bug in the HP722C XP driver (it doesn't
use black ink for black text on a page that also contains color), but
now I guess there's another. Maybe two.

Since the @&%!^% driver dried out my color cartridge, the ink light
always comes on and it refuses to print. I found a workaround, which
just stopped working today ... but wait, isn't this a bug? Just
because an ink cartridge is low, if I still want to print, shouldn't
the printer give it a try? And didn't it work that way, before XP?

My workaround was to power it off, then back on again. The ink light
would always stay off for about three minutes, during which I could
print my black text. Eventually the ink light would come back on.
This is with a parallel port, btw, I think the only option for this
older printer. As of this morning, the paper light came on, I wiggled
the paper, the paper light went off, but now the ink light will not go
off at all, for more than two seconds after a power-up. I'm almost
positive there's plenty of black ink still left, if the &^&^#*%
printer would just give it a try. But it won't.

So, isn't this refusal to print a second major bug in this print
driver?

Or am I mistaken?

J.
