In XP it remains unchanged:
- PrtScn for whole desktop
- Alt-PrtScn for active window

Goes into clipboard. Paste into application that can accept screenshot,
e.g. Word, WordPad, Paint, etc.

I don't know how you would get a screen shot of the login screen prior
to logging in (if that's your question). There's gotta be a way ... I
have vague recollection that this was discussed here before...

Someone may post an answer here ... meantime, do a search on the
newsgroup and you may pick up where this was previously discussed. AS I
said, I have a vague recollection it was discussed previously.

Also, after searching newsgroup, consider reposting with better title,
e.g. "How to get screen shot of login screen before login?"

I have read on here that either Google or Yahoo archive past posts. Believe
it's Google. Check this out if no luck. Someone else please confirm
if/which applies ?

At the logon screen, do shift-print screen, then logon.
As soon as you logon, open Paint and paste the image. It will be a bitmap. You can then use any photo-editor to resize convert the image.
Just so you can see it works,
