administrator's documents

i ran into some bootup problems so i reinstalled windows
xp on my computer. now i can't access my old
administrator folders such as my old desktop or documents
folders. is there any way to unlock those folders again?
i'd really appreciate it if anybody could help, thanks a
bunch.
