Hello,

I have installed my "old" HP P1000 printer on my PC
running XP Pro following the instruction provided by HP
Website download drivers :
- Downloaded latest driver for XP Pro V3.5
- Disconnected the printer
- Unzipped and Ran the setup.exe
- Plugged the printer with the USB cable when asked ...
=> installation go on fine with New Hardware Detection
followed by a few Windows popup (detection + installation)
until the last one "impossible to install this
hardware" - Hp Photosmart p1000 series - "specified file
not found" ...
=> I rebooted the PC and the same message comes on
again "New Hardware Detection" followed by this same
error message. My only choice at this point is to click
on "finish" and the new hardware detection comes on again
and again and again ...
=> When I check for the printer it is installed and works
fine !!!

=> How can I get rid of this New Harware Detection and
Error Message each time PC is rebooted... It looks like
it is a Plug and Play Problem

Thanks a lot for any help

Take at look at the following KB article:

Hello,

No, this doesn't help. The first time I installed the
driver this message appeared; at his point, my only
choice was/is to click on "finish" button and the message
keeps on poping up again and again without rebooting the
PC. If I want to use the PC, I have to pretend that the
message is not there ...

It looks like when the PC boots, it tries to plug and
play the HP Printer and can't find something not
completely usefull (the printer works fine + the card
reader also !!!)

Thanks for any more advice.
