Hi I have been trying to get my microphone to work for a
couple of weeks and no luck. In doing so I have seen
other posts here where others are having problems with
the same sound card. Via ac97 is the sound card that I am
refering to. All of my mic controls are greyed out and it
doesnt work at all. This is the second mic I have tried.
Can anyone please help with this.
Thanks, Cathy

oh and yes it is plugged into the right spot!!

If the controls are greyed out it is not the microphone itself. You might
have to reinstall the audio drivers for your motherboard's chipset as the
AC'97 is an integrated sound card. Check the manufacturer's site for audio
drivers related to AC'97

Those integrated sound chips must also be enabled
in the BIOS (integrated periphials)
