My machine is restarting on its own, and I assume it is because of the
current virus. I have no virus protection, but I do have windows xp
firewall set up. I am using COmcast Cable modem. I have tried to
download the latest patch from Microsoft, but the automatic restarts
continue. Is the virus in a file? I moved most of my important data
to a hard drive, then formatted and reinstalled XP, but the problem
still happened. I am wondering if this is a comcast cable thing or is
there something I need to install/remove to stop this.

www.mcafee.com or www.symantec.com they both have free tools to help you out
and tell you how to protect yourself and clean the virus....
