Please think very carefully before doing anything. If this is a new system,
which came with XP preinstalled, you will invalidate your warranty and the
manufacturer will no longer assist you (this will, most likely, apply to
hardware and software). Why do you want to reinstall 98 - why can't you just
dual boot - that way you can learn to like XP whilst still using 98. Some
other things to bear in mind. MS ceased free support for 98 at the end of
June and all support for 98 - in any shape or form - will cease at the end
of January, next year - it's also a 99% certainty that, when MS ceases to
support a product, hardware manufacturers will cease to produce 98 drivers
for their products. This means that, in the second quarter 2004, you
probably will no longer be able to purchase products with 98 drivers.

Think very carefully - I would go down the dual boot route myself. But
that's just me. It is, of course, your computer and you can do whatever the
Hades you like - all we're here to do is make you aware of the consequences
of your actions. For dual boot instructions see www.dougknox.com and click
the WinXP Tips link. You will need a third party application to partition
your drive (e.g. www.powerquest.com/partitionmagic).
