Hi,
You can change the attributes on a CD-RW disk.
You'll have to copy the contents or files on the CD-RW disk to your hard
drive and then you'll be able to change it.

No, you *can't* change the read-only attribute. You can
copy the file to the hard drive, change the attribute, do
some editing and then burn the file back to the CD, but
when that happens the read-only attribute will be reset.

If the CD-R/W is formatted with packet writing software like Direct CD or
Drag to Disk then the CD-R/W will behave like a giant floppy and files do
not have the read only attribute set. However if you use mastering software
like XP's built in software or Nero, Easy CD Creator etc then a CD-R/W is
treated just like a CD-R disk and the read only attrib is set.
With XP when you copy a file off the CD XP will automatically remove the
read only attrib from files.
