Just bought a brand new Dell w/Windows XP. Am trying to
install a DOS program (Foxbase database for medical
billing) and getting an error code; program WILL NOT
install. Contacted Dell - Dell said Windows XP will not
run DOS programs. Say it isn't so? What do I do now?
Anyone know if that is a fact and got any solutions?
Thanks, Roseanne

Not true (although there are certain DOS functions that won't work, e.e.
direct access to hardware). I'm surprised that Dell didn't ask you to
re-install XP to fix the problem. (sorry).
Best to go back to the vendor/developer of the application. The install
program is probably old and erroneously decides not to install. They
may have a fix available, or can advise a newer version of the runtime
Foxbase program to use. Or they can tell you that it doesn't work and
provide you guidance.
Also take note of XP's Compatibilty Wizard for running these sorts of
older programs.
