DeskJet 540 not working in XP

Please HELP. My HP 540 was working just fine in Windows
98 but now that i am running XP pro it just freezes up.
I have tried to get drivers from hp but they say the ones
i have are up to date. Is there anything that i can do.

If you kept the printer connected to the PC during the upgrade, chances are
high the drivers became corrupted.

At Step 6, use the Add Printer Wizard to add the printer. The drivers are
included with XP.
