Problem w/ Word After Upgrade to XP

I recently upgraded my SONY VAIO laptop from Windows ME
to Windows XP. The version of Microsoft Word which came
with the computer no longer works. Will Microsoft
upgrade my Word software at no charge? Or will I have to
pay again for Word so that it works with Windows XP? In
either case, how do I contact someone from Microsoft to
get this process started? (SONY was no help, by the way.)

Can't you just reinstall it from the CDs you used to installed it onto ME?

What do you mean "no longer works"? Do you have a separate disc for Word or
was it included in some form of 'recovery' disc?

Nope. You didn't buy your software from MS you bought it from Sony.
Microsoft do not, cannot and will not support OEM installations of any of
its software.

Yep if your current version cannot be reinstalled under XP.

You don't - you go to your nearest software emporium and pick a box off the
shelf, same as anyone else - it has nothing whatsoever to do with MS.

(SONY was no help, by the way.)

Of course they weren't - you changed the original OS so, if it was still
under warranty (which I very much doubt) you invalidated it by doing so.
