Printing problems using USB001 port running dos programs

My OS is Windows XP and my printer is hp deskjet 3325
connected to USB001 port. Printing windows apps like Word
and Excel is not a problem. However, when I print using
dos programs it doesnt print and it doesnt even give any
error messages. When I use another printer using the LPT1
port, it prints both windows and dos programs. What is
wrong?
